Tomorrow I will be adopting this adorable little kitten from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. The only problem is that Rob and I can’t come to an agreement on the perfect name. I really want a feminine name that captures her personality. She is a tortoiseshell cat, commonly referred to as a “tortie.” In addition to their unique markings, torties also have very unique personalities. They are usually fiercely independent, strong-willed, and incredibly feisty. These traits are affectionately referred to as tortitude!
Do you have any great feminine kitten name suggestions that really embody tortitude? Please share!
Tuga. Means turtle in Spanish. Pronounced “tooga” Donnie

That was actually one of the names on our list! It is still in the running.
I like Tuga. Or maybe you could shorten Canakkale (aka cha-knock-ka-lay) somehow? I could see her ruling the “castle.”
Canakkale would be a tough one to shorten! Tuga is cute, but right now Zoey is my top contender. But Rob isn’t such a fan of that one.
Dayna, It brings tears to my eyes. The name Hope & Faith is what I like. Whatever you choose its a beautiful thing!!!!!
Thanks Aunt Jill! I am volunteering at my local animal shelter and it has been such a rewarding experience. I can’t wait to bring this sweet girl home.
The attributes sound like someone I know. You should call her Dee-Emm. DM short for Dayna Marie.
: )
Hey Dayna, I’ve really enjoyed checking out your pics of your vacation. You went to absolutely beautiful places- thanks for the education. I had to respond when I saw this pic of your Kitten to be. We actually had a cat that looked just like her , well, my daughter Mary did when she was a little girl and she named her Cutie. She was the best cat we ever had, besides her 2 brothers we had also adopted. They were the best cats we’ve ever had. We are down to only 1 out of the 3 now, he’s a 10 year old orange tabby named Tom. We lost Cutie when she was about 3 years old. Talk about independent she would go out all night and hunt while her brothers stayed in the house. She also held her own against the 2 of them when ever they played. We would also find her asleep in the weirdest spots . She loved to fall asleep in the Longaberger basket that held our napkins on the kitchen table, while she looked absolutely adorable as a centerpiece I had to throw away the napkins – we went through a lot of napkins. I also used to find her in a flower basket that I use to hang out on the deck. She was so cute and affectionate, that’s why Mary named her Cutie. I can’t come up with a name because I feel once you bring your kitten home, and spend some time with her a name will come to you that embodies her spirit that only you are going to experience in your home. I’m so happy that you are doing so well. Luv ya, Michelle Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2013 17:49:57 +0000 To: missmichelle36@hotmail.com
Thanks Michelle! Glad you are enjoying the blog. I will update you after we figure out the name. Love you!

since you went to turkey recently, how about something from a greek or turkish legend. maybe a greek goddess like athena or artemis, or maybe an amazon name. the only ones i know are hippolyta or myrine. don’t know what the turkish names are = )
neha
Artemis was considered but it didn’t sound girly enough.
